Delhi witnessed an extensive security crackdown on October 10 as police detained thousands of people ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and All India Students’ Association’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar. The demonstration called for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over allegations of irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Election Commission and BJP have denied allegations of wrongdoing, maintaining that voter-list revisions are part of a verification process.

Among those detained were CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were taken into custody after their flight landed at Delhi airport. Reports also named opposition figures Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee and Pinarayi Vijayan, along with YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and other activists and public figures. With key organisers detained, CJP’s Ajinkya Shinde took on a leading role in the protest effort.

The operation came amid major restrictions across the capital, including closures or entry restrictions at Metro stations, traffic curbs and a heavy deployment of police and paramilitary personnel. The Supreme Court had questioned the proportionality of the proposed restrictions ahead of the protest, warning authorities against using a “hammer to kill a fly” and calling for steps to minimise inconvenience to commuters. Despite the crackdown, smaller demonstrations were reported in parts of Delhi. The events have triggered renewed debate over public order, the right to peaceful assembly and the handling of allegations concerning electoral transparency.

Getting ready to lead the wellness programme in Ibiza for the 4th year with @leblanq.tour and it still blows my mind. I started doing this because it made sense to me, even if it may not really have done from the outside.

Incidentally, this circuitous, unplanned journey has now landed me a book deal that is challenging me in exactly the way I think I’d been craving. But that’s also not the point. And if only 2 people read the book that too is not the point. The point is to explore something for the exploration itself. Everything else is a bonus.

And seeing and learning the ways in which what I do here connects with, people around me, with @justinc360 and @sarah__e__s and how it allows me to deliver something really special with the two beautiful powerhouses @bespoke_m and @mazhedleylewis, they’re the rewards in themselves.

So, Ibiza next week. And I truly cannot wait.
