Dear Gran,
I’ll always be so grateful for all the letters, pictures and family history you sent me when I moved to the other side of the world. I honestly had no idea our ancestors were from Cavan until you told me. And now it’s somewhere I go to every year. I love going there and exploring it and I think I always will now. I’ll keep finding out more about where we came from. That’s something you gave me and something I’ll always have. I'm really going to miss your letters. Getting one from you, sitting down and reading it and then eventually getting around to writing one back. I’m sorry I didn’t write as much over the last few years, especially after the boys were born. Life just got so busy and the time disappeared. But I always loved hearing from you and seeing a letter from you arrive. We lived in different countries and didn’t actually spend that much time together, but I still feel like I knew you really well. Mostly because of all those letters. You always wanted to know what was going on in my life. You were so inquisitive, but never in a nosy way. You were just genuinely interested and I always loved that about you. Thank you for reading all my ridiculously long letters! For always wanting to know what I was doing and what was going on in my life. And mostly, thank you for just accepting me exactly as I was. That meant more to me than you probably knew. It’s really strange knowing I won’t ever get another letter from you. I’ll miss that...But I know you’re at peace now. Goodbye Gran. I really hope somehow we get to see each other again. Maybe in another life.
