The Indonesian rupiah weakened to Rp18,009 per US dollar on Friday (October 16, 2026), crossing the Rp18,000 mark for the first time in this reported movement. According to Lukman Leong, an analyst at Doo Financial Futures, the rupiah’s depreciation was driven by escalating conflicts in the Middle East, which pushed global crude oil prices higher. Domestic pressure also came from a sell-off in the Indonesian stock market. The stock market decline followed Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) opening a consultation on a proposed downgrade of Indonesia’s market classification from Emerging Market to Standalone Market.

Definitely Top 10 most chill things I have ever filmed 😜 @alexhonnold high on Sendero Luminoso on one of the many 5.12 pitches stacked one after the next, that makes this such a mellow and relaxing solo! You can watch my film “How to Solo a BigWall” on my YouTube channel, which gets into the nitty gritty of preparing to solo a route of this magnitude. Supporting Alex on this was definitely a life experience! Might be a minute before this gets a ropeless repeat!

🕯️⛪ Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Laudate Dominum, from the Vesperae solennes de confessore, K. 339 Aksel Rykkvin – boy soprano voice 🎤 Oslo Domkor and IRIS kammerorkester – Vivianne Sydnes • The name de confessore, which appears in the title of these vespers, was added to the score later, by another hand, and the saint it refers to may never have existed. Mozart composed the work in 1780 for the cathedral of Salzburg, where he was court organist to Archbishop Colloredo. Mozart had come back from Paris to take the post, and his dissatisfaction with Salzburg went on without easing. In the fifth movement, the Laudate Dominum, he gave the soprano a much simpler solo: the one in the vespers of the year before was florid. It is this movement that is often sung on its own, apart from the whole work. The following year, Mozart broke with the archbishop and was dismissed. • Listen again and notice what happens after the camera closes in on the singer's face, with a blurred candle beside it: the sound, which had been strong, fades gradually over several seconds, until it is very faint, and only then does the voice rise in volume again. • Aksel Rykkvin was born in Oslo and, before this night, had recorded his first album, in London, with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, funded by a crowdfunding campaign. According to the video description, the performance brought together the Oslo Domkor, the choir of Oslo Cathedral, and the IRIS kammerorkester, conducted by Vivianne Sydnes, at one of the free Christmas concerts at the cathedral, in December 2016. Right after the camera passes over the orchestra's musicians, it pulls back and Aksel appears in the distance, standing, with his hands at his sides, in front of the altar and the stained-glass window. • 👉 Follow for the best of classical music daily on your feed. • #mozart #laudatedominum #akselrykkvin #classicalmusic
