Two young men were hanged on Tuesday over their alleged role in January protests in Isfahan, during which authorities accused defendants of involvement in the deaths of four security personnel. Amirhossein Maleki and Amirhossein Ebrahimi were among 12 defendants sentenced to death in the Alikhani Square case. Shahrzad Shahbazi, a lawyer representing defendants, has disputed the official account, saying none had been formally charged with murder and the alleged killings had not been tried.
