I’ve been accused more than once of “romanticizing” the world around me. Now to me, that sounds like a compliment of the highest degree. It wasn’t meant as a compliment, it never is, but I’m choosing to take it as one. Yes, I romanticize every second of every day that I’m here walking around on this big rock. Because even when the world around us feels like it’s falling apart, the sun still rises and sets. And by goodness if it isn’t absolutely gorgeous to witness. It doesn’t matter if I’m in a big city or in the middle of nowhere, I’ll find a place to stand before the majesty of daybreak and day’s end. They might not all feature pink cotton candy cloud skies. Some might be rainy, others might be buggy and hot as actual hell. But, I’m there in the open air, every time, celebrating the majesty of Mother Nature. I’m celebrating that I’m here getting to be a part of for another day. That’s not romanticizing. That’s the reality of the situation. So many aren’t still here for the sunrises and the sunsets. So many didn’t make it this far. And in a way I feel like not stopping to take it all in once in a while is the greatest waste of a lifetime. Call me a romantic. Call me delusional. Call me down right crazy. I’ll take em all. I’ll always be the girl running as fast as I can to chase down every start and finish to the day, for as long as these lungs take breath and this heart continues to beat. And just a reminder that every human, that has the ability to walk outside, has been given free tickets to every sunrise and sunset show. It’s free entertainment, free salve for the soul. So just a suggestion… try on “romanticizing” today. It might just change your life.
