The protests were followed by the Delhi riots, arrests and terror cases, including that of Umar Khalid, who remains behind bars facing UAPA charges. Media hounding has real-world consequences. The hostility towards TV news we’re witnessing on the streets in 2026 has a history. The playbook is familiar, and so is the distrust it has created.
