The Organized Kid Project Week 4: Create Your Very Own Spark-Joy Spot

The challenge: Have your child choose one small area and make it a place that sparks joy.

The kid-friendly prompt:

“If you could make one spot in your room feel REALLY good to walk into, what would you choose?”

Then give them 3 simple steps:

1. Take it all out.
Everything gets a chance to be reconsidered.

2. Keep what sparks joy.
Not “What should you get rid of?” but “Which things make you happy to see, use, or play with?”

3. Give everything a home.
The goal isn’t Pinterest perfection—it’s creating a space where your child can find what they need and put it away independently.

And here’s the bridge to school...

At the end, ask:

“What would make this spot easier for YOU to use when school starts?”

Maybe they realize they need:

a place for tomorrow’s outfit
a basket for library books
a spot for school papers
a hook for their backpack
a container for pencils
room on their desk for homework
an easy-to-reach place for shoes
So they’re actually designing a system around their own needs, rather than Mom/Dad imposing one.

✨✨Joy isn’t the reward for being organized; joy can be the reason we organize.
