ok our holiday cards are JUST TOO CUTE!! i’ve been ordering from @minted and once you input your address book its such a breeze to order year after year. (they also include your free recipient address!) minted has so many gorgeous and unique designs to choose from that they elevate even the totally basic fam photos you’ve already got in your camera roll! and you can even preview as you shop with your own photo. i went with the cutest vintage postcard design which just felt so fitting for our new life in connecticut. i’m also obsessed with the envelope design too, and they have a peel and stick option now which is life changing! if only susan from seinfeld was alive to experience this lol. comment HOLIDAY and i’ll send the links for the card i used along with some other faves and use code ALMOSTMAKESPERFECT for 20% off Minted stationery and gifts now through 1/31 (exclusions apply) #mintedpartner https://liketk.it/6q0So
HISTORY FAVOURS THE UNHINGED (EVENTUALLY, AT LEAST). This is a convenient argument to make once you know which books became classics and which songs everybody knows by heart. But what do you do before any of that happens? An idea SHOULD be able to withstand interrogation. You can be wildly attached to something and still need to do serious work on it. SOME criticism makes the work better. But, some just carefully removes everything that might have made it yours. Some questions to consider: Is this difficult to understand because I haven’t expressed it well enough, or because I’m attempting something unfamiliar? Does the strange bit need cutting, or have I simply not worked out how to make it belong? Am I improving the idea, or making it easier to defend? Some more thoughts on interrogating your ideas before they reach the world ON OUR NEW SUBSTACK: **Provocations by Creative Living**. The first essay is where we’re taking this idea further: the creative decisions, the inconvenient details, and the much harder business of recognising where good judgement has become obedience.
