Tuskegee University kicked off its first-ever men’s soccer season Monday night, and the crowd showed up for it. Alumni, parents, teammates and the marching band packed the stands for the exhibition match against Enterprise State Community College.
Freshman Christopher Turner is one of the players making history this season. His father, Walter, made the trip to watch. “Exciting for him to be a part of this institution and be a part of history,” he said.
Down 1-0 late in the second half, Chikwere Ikpo set up Toree Davis with a cross, and Davis rose for a header to score the first goal in Tuskegee soccer history. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Head coach Matthew Tarpley said it best: “I’m honored and absolutely humbled to be leading this team.”
