Keke and VP Kamala Harris talking Pilates was NOT on our bingo card πŸ˜‚πŸ§˜πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ From reformers and hotel room mats to the muscles you didn’t even know you had, the two get into how Pilates can be about so much more than six pack abs. It’s about strength, control, posture, and feeling connected to your body. And yes, VP Kamala Harris might just need to do a collab with Practice by Palmer. πŸ‘€ Watch the full conversation on Baby, this is Keke Palmer! #BabyThisIsKekePalmer #KekePalmer #VPKamalaHarris #Pilates
NYT flies some guy in from Cincinnati, parks him with Meth Camp Mike for a couple days, and he comes back saying Denver solved homelessness. πŸ™„ German Lopez saw the tiny homes and the hotel rooms bought with one-time federal cash, rode along on a morning patrol, and decided the 64% drop in unsheltered counts means every other city should copy this. What Lopez actually watched was the city spending HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS to relocate people into low-barrier hotel rooms with zero rules. Sure, street homelessness numbers will go down when you move the problem indoors but that’s not a solution. The people still cycling through this system are mostly deep in addiction to meth and fentanyl, and/or dealing with serious mental illness. An apartment key doesn’t fix that. It just relocates the drugs, the crime, the overdoses, and the chaos into buildings or onto the next block. Neighbors around these sites have been documenting this while the mayor’s office keeps pointing at the PIT count and cherry picking stats. But…Lopez didn’t stay long enough to see any of that. Housing First without accountability is just a try-to-hide-the-problem program. No consequences means no pressure to get treatment or be a productive member of society. The article even admits the remaining street population needs the kind of intervention progressives hate, and that the money is running out. Enforcement only ramps up when election season hits. The rest of the time it’s warnings and an ask to β€œmove along.” Lopez got the gaslighters’ official tour. The rest of us have the video evidence. Copying Denver’s model just spreads the same expensive failure. Do better, @nytimes
Meet the Gas Station Soul Food King of Staten Island! β›½οΈπŸ‘‘ One thing I hate is a gimmick. @nbsoul.love, a grab-and-go soul food spot located in the back of a Mobil gas station, is anything but that. The owner Naseem Barnett is as genuine as they come. He started looking at gas station kitchens because he was inspired by chefs doing similar things in the southβ€”and besides, he couldn’t afford the high-prices of a brick and mortar restaurant. The result is an IYKYK gem of the highest order. Come 4pm, Naseem throws a fryer on top of the gas station’s deli grill and gets to work. Okay, so the concept is cool, but how’s the food? Simply put, the food is incredible. This was one of the best plates I’ve had, anywhere, in recent memory. Naseem fell in love with soul food through his mother’s cooking. But with Soul Love he puts his own spin on the classicsβ€”seasoning up the mac and cheese, adding oranges to the yams, and so on. The results is *chef’s kiss* 🀌 Run, don’t walk, to Soul Love if you know what’s good for you. And tell β€˜em The Rec Team sent you! Long Live the Gas Station Soul Food King of Staten Island! πŸ™Œ πŸ“ Soul Love 1125 Richmond Terrace Ave, State Island #soulfood #friedchicken #blackbusinessowner #nycfood #blackfoodie
