Alex Trebek never really got a planned goodbye from Jeopardy!. He had been hosting the show since 1984, and even after announcing that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2019, he kept working and taping episodes for as long as he physically could. His final episodes were taped in late October 2020. At the time, neither Trebek nor the crew knew they would be his last. He continued hosting like normal, still joking with contestants and doing the job he had done for more than 36 years. Trebek passed away on November 8, 2020, and his final episode aired on January 8, 2021. By then, viewers knew they were watching the end of an era, which made his familiar closing words feel completely different. He hosted more than 8,000 episodes of Jeopardy! and became so closely tied to the show that for generations of viewers, Alex Trebek simply was Jeopardy!. Myha'la Herrold has spoken out about what she describes as "unconscious racial and cultural bias" within the format of Celebrity Traitors. The 30-year-old American star of the BBC drama Industry made an early exit from this year's series, becoming the first Faithful contestant to be voted off. Her departure followed that of actor Richard E Grant, who was banished as a Traitor. In an Instagram exchange following her elimination, Ms Herrold reflected on her experience of the show, suggesting that the way she naturally expresses herself may have appeared suspicious to fellow contestants unfamiliar with someone like her. #Traitors #Entertainment #GameShow #TV #GBNews
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a series of women-focused initiatives aimed at improving campus safety, strengthening public infrastructure and creating new livelihood opportunities across the national capital. In a recent meeting with presidents and vice presidents of Delhi University’s women’s colleges, Gupta discussed concerns ranging from poorly lit roads and unsafe surroundings to inadequate public transport and infrastructure gaps. The Chief Minister directed officials to establish a dedicated WhatsApp group connecting student representatives with administrative and police authorities, allowing campus-related issues to be raised directly with the government. Student representatives from colleges including Lady Shri Ram, Gargi, Maitreyi and Jesus and Mary participated in the interaction. Gupta also encouraged young women to contribute their perspectives to Delhi’s upcoming Youth Policy and pre-budget consultations. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has launched an application portal for its DURGA e-auto scheme, which aims to create self-employment opportunities while improving last-mile connectivity. Under the initiative, 1,300 pink electric autos will be allocated in the first phase, including 1,170 for women and 130 for transgender persons. The scheme is intended to help beneficiaries become owners and drivers of electric autos while promoting cleaner and safer public transportation, particularly around major transit networks. The government has also outlined plans to install 50,000 CCTV cameras and one lakh streetlights across Delhi to strengthen public-space security. Gupta said improved lighting and surveillance would help address safety concerns, particularly around educational institutions. Existing support mechanisms, including One Stop Centres offering medical, legal and counselling assistance, the 181 Women Helpline and the 112 emergency response number, form part of the broader safety framework.
