cooking is chemistry, chemistry is life. it’s been 3 years since Lessons in Chemistry premiered, and we still can’t stop thinking about the magic of Elizabeth Zott! 👩‍🔬🥘

swipe for behind-the-scenes facts and photos from @brielarson and @courtney_mcbroom ✨

@courtney_mcbroom was the food consultant behind every dish Elizabeth Zott made AND Brie’s hand double.

fun story: on this day they didn’t have a spare of Brie’s costume, so wardrobe had to improvise. hence the look 😄

✌🏼fun facts!

1️⃣ this photo is an ode to Julia Child who has a similar photo with her staff when cooking a segment with fire

2️⃣ the pink set took inspiration from ‘I Love Lucy’! Pink was used a lot back then because it read as a medium gray on black-and-white TV

@courtney_mcbroom wearing the crown (roast), which @brielarson also does in the show!

a fun inside joke referencing the crown roast they made for their Game of Thrones watch parties 👑

ok but the real behind-the-scenes? this prep list. every dish you saw on screen started as @courtney_mcbroom’s very detailed to-do list 📝

when we say “hand double,” THIS is what we mean. 👯‍♀️ costume, hair, the whole thing... so every close-up of chopping and stirring looked seamless 💯

hand double in action 🎬

see? can you even tell whose hands are whose? 👀

these are some pork chops that Elizabeth made for dinner one night. it’s another one of those dishes that we loved and was so beautiful, but never got any screen time. now is her time to shine!!!

@brielarson named her real dog Six Thirty, after this cute pup in the show! 🐾 she tried a bunch of names, but he only ever answered to Six Thirty. can we blame him??

method rowing? 🚣‍♀️ @brielarson brought a rowing machine to set to practice whenever she had a spare moment, just like Elizabeth Zott.

the vibes on set? immaculate. @brielarson set up a game table so everyone could hang and play between takes 🃏

this blackberry lattice pie showed up at a BBQ early on 🥧

fun detail: we don’t think the lattice top ever even made it into the final cut. all that work!

and it always goes back to lasagna!

Seriously guys, good morning. ☀️🙂

More newspaper headlines, more videos and podcasts are picking up the story of fake professor Sam Vaknin who has no qualifications and has been predating on vulnerable therapy patients.

Two articles in two days in his country of residence North Macedonia. One of the biggest newspapers has picked up the story, first covering the exposé in the documentary and podcast and then a story on the Chamber of Psychology distancing itself from Sam.

Perhaps more importantly, a popular podcast hosted by three REAL university professors, called for the Ministry of Interior Affairs to step in and investigate his residency and unlicensed practice. @rumenabuzarovska @irenacvetkovik @janajakimovska

In the full episode there say “he primarily commits his misdeeds in other countries, which makes reporting him very difficult. If he rapes someone in Russia and then returns to Macedonia, what are the chances that the police forces of the two countries will cooperate? Virtually zero. That is precisely what has saved him all these years. He still lives here, and together with his wife, he runs a foundation called the Vaknin-Rangelovska Foundation. He continues to hold seminars.

His entire persona reeks of blatant charlatanism. He is a fake professor, claiming to represent an institution that, upon closer inspection, does not even exist.

For instance, it was claimed that this seminar is held under the auspices of the “Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) UK.” This has absolutely nothing to do with Cambridge; it is merely an organization that exploits the Cambridge name—deliberately included to lend an air of “professionalism.” In reality, it is an inactive organization based in a dilapidated, unusable building, with ties to Nigeria.” #samvaknin #narcissisticabuse #podcast

Every meal gives you an opportunity to support your health. And you don’t need an expensive superfood or a complicated diet to begin.

Food provides the raw materials your body uses to build muscle, make hormones, maintain your immune system, and fuel your cells. The fiber and plant compounds you eat also help nourish the microbes living in your gut.

That’s why I encourage people to start with a simple foundation: plenty of colorful vegetables, quality protein, healthy fats, and a variety of whole foods.

Aim to fill about 75 percent of your plate by volume with non-starchy vegetables. Add protein from foods like wild fish, pasture-raised eggs and poultry, or traditional plant foods like tempeh.

Include healthy fats from olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds, with modest portions of beans and intact whole grains as tolerated.

Calories tell you how much energy a food provides. Its protein, fiber, fats, vitamins, and plant compounds help explain what that food contributes to your health. Both deserve context.

Save this for your next grocery trip—and tell me which foods are already staples in your kitchen.
