Kilian Midnight Espresso - From Golden Hour to After Dark

For years, gourmand fragrances have been my weakness. But somewhere along the way, I started growing tired of how often they seemed to share the same predictable base.

Kilian, however, holds a special place in my collection. It's one of my favourite perfume houses, and I admire their way of handling sweetness. Their fragrances develop beautifully on my skin, with a distinctive character that feels neither synthetic nor generic.

So when Midnight Espresso appeared, I was excited, but also a little nervous. I wanted to love it so much that I was almost afraid of being disappointed. I ordered it directly from the official website, a rare blind purchase for me these days.

And I fell for it from the very first spray.

To my nose, Midnight Espresso is more of a sweet perfume with gourmand nuances than a typical gourmand. The coffee is unmistakably there, but beautifully rounded, without any sharp bitterness. There's a gentle nuttiness woven into the composition, and then comes the vanilla. Warm, smooth and incredibly addictive. Everything blends together so naturally, retaining that unmistakable Kilian character.

Despite its name, I find Midnight Espresso equally suited to daylight and evening hours. The season matters far more than the time of day. I imagine it in the colder months, when wool sweaters become a daily ritual and the warmth of coffee and vanilla feels especially welcome. Its mellow, velvety richness is deeply cocooning, carrying the dark warmth of roasted coffee into autumn's muted afternoons and the intimacy of long winter evenings.

The bottle is another pleasure. Beautifully sculpted glass reminiscent of a crystal whisky tumbler, finished with a satisfying magnetic cap. In the sunlight, the amber-coloured liquid catches fire. Among roasted coffee beans, the same bottle settles naturally into the shadows.

Which visual interpretation speaks to you more - the golden hour glow or the after dark mood?

In honor of the @victoriassecret show this Sunday… here’s my GRWM from last year!!! @charlottetilbury @kikomilano @maccosmetics @dibsbeauty @patricktabeauty @ardellbeauty @lancomeofficial @hourglasscosmetics

🙅‍♀️ Put that sad-ass, played out tofu-based pumpkin pie down. Nobody asked for a wobbly blob the color of a bandaid that tastes like a stale penny loafer rotting in the mist.

⭐️👉 Comment “THANKSGIVING” and I’ll send you all 7 of these banger dessert recipes, plus my FREE 20-day Vegan Thanksgiving program.

Here’s the thing about Thanksgiving dessert. It’s the last thing on the table, so it’s what everybody remembers on the drive home. Your mains can crush it, but if the pie is a sad lil hockey puck, the whole table leaves thinking vegan food is “kinda... fine?”

It’s also where non-vegans doubt you the HARDEST. Custard with no eggs? Butter crust with no butter? Whipped cream with no cow? Grandma’s already squinting.

So hear ye, hear ye, here’s 7 that make the squint go away:
🍒 Cranberry galette with orange and cardamom
🍎 Apple crisp with brown sugar oat streusel
🍩 Pumpkin donuts (fried, baked or air-fried)
🫚 Gingerbread loaf with orange cream cheese frosting
🍠 Maple sweet potato pie in a graham crust
🥧 The $25,000 apple pie
🥧 Rum-spiked pumpkin chiffon pie

That last one was my #1 fave dessert growing up. My wife and I have been tweaking the vegan version for decades.

Every one of these went through my 1,000+ recipe testers before it hit my site, so they work in your kitchen, not just mine. And every plant-based pie on a table this year means one less animal on it. That’s the whole point.

The free program gives you a new recipe in your inbox every day starting Nov 1, plus a live prep-along class, so you’re not panic-baking at midnight. 17,000+ people have cooked their way through it.

⭐️👉 Comment “THANKSGIVING” and I’ll send you the desserts + the program ASAP

🤷‍♀️ BUT I MUST KNOWWWW: which one’s getting sliced first at your table, the cranberry galette or the $25,000 apple pie? Tell me why, tell me sweet little why in the comments.
