“Al Mantara" is an old house in Chatine, in the highlands of Batroun, and a new space dedicated to documenting the rural landscape history and memory of Lebanon: part archive, part research lab, part community space.
In this collaborative, documentary exhibition, we invite the people of Chatine, Tannourine El-Fawqa, Tannourine El-Tahta, and Wata Houb to reconnect with their grandparents' homes and the broader landscape history of the region, from the 1950s to today.
They place a pin on the map, write names, come across photos of their grandparents, and open up a story about a home or a place they once knew: still standing, or long gone.
In this way, a collective map of the region gradually takes shape, drawn by its own people.
Landscape is living heritage — and its history and oral geography must be documented and preserved, before these stories fade with the generations who lived them, along with the culture of the countryside.

"وين بيت جدودك؟" — أول معرض في"المنطرة" "المنطرة" بيت قديم بشاتين جرد البترون، و مساحة جديدة مخصصة لتوثيق تاريخ الأرض وذاكرتها في لبنان: أرشيف، ومختبر بحث، ومساحة تلاقٍ، بآنٍ واحد. في هالمعرض التفاعلي التوثيقي بندعي أهالي قرى تنورين الفوقا والتحتا، شاتين، ووطى حوب، يتعرّفوا مجدداً على بيت جدودهم وعلى تاريخ أرضهم، من خمسينات القرن الماضي وحتى اليوم. بيوضعو دبوس عالخريطة، يكتبو اسمم، بيتعرّفوا على صور أجدادهم، وبيفتحوا حكاية عن بيت أو مكان عرفوه يوما: لا يزال قائماً، أو صار ذكرى. هيك، تتشكّل تدريجياً خريطة جماعية للمنطقة، رسمها أهلها بأنفسهم. لأن الأرض تراث حي، تاريخ وجغرافيا شفهية لازم تتوثق وتُحفظ، قبل ما تطوي الأجيال صفحاتها، ويطوى معها ثقافة الريف. إذا كنتوا مصيفين بالمنطقة زورونا. شاتين، قضاء البترون السبت والأحد | ١١:٠٠ ص – ٧:٠٠ م الزيارات خلال أيام الأسبوع متوفّرة بحجز مسبق. للحجز والاستفسار: [email protected] | 71 530 431
