a month agoThanks to @mobtruths who was the brains, heart, and soul, I had the privilege of being a founding member of @ontapdancetroupe at Cornell University in the early 1990s - and it’s still going strong. What a joy!!! Because sometimes, no matter what, you just can’t escape the rhythm.
2 months agoI started the one at Santa Clara with my friend. After Covid, it sounded like interest died down. Does any current student want to revive it?
2 months agoTulane alum/ grad student here, almost all semesters we have 3 levels of tap classes (i did 6 semesters) but I’m looking into starting a club! Definitely a process but hoping to open the doors for students who don’t have the flexibility to take a tap class for academic credit and to develop and showcase student choreo
2 months agoThere is definitely a lack of percussion dance clubs. As a side note, even as a dance major in college, tap wasn't a class opinion for me. Would love to see tap make its way into our universities. ❤️
2 months ago@mia.spallina @sutap.club Syracuse University students started a tap club two years ago.
2 months agoI read once that Kennesaw State in GA has a group. Can anyone confirm or deny?? My daughter is looking at that school
2 months agoand at a different college, @apdoliviajoy.dancer / @lauraseidelmann will start one
2 months agoI feel as @l1feoflarissa will start such club at a university that does not have a tap dance club should she goes to such college in 2029.
2 months ago[Shoutout to Sonya, the Mizzou Tap Collective, and all our tap fam and alumni at the University of Missouri! 🖤💛🐅] May I just say, before we immerse ourselves in this conversation… I’m of the belief that if tap dance is to flourish on college campuses across the country and world, clubs and ensembles like these are a significant first step. So I *very strongly* encourage any serious and passionate tap dancers who attend a college, any college, to start a club, and make sure it continues well into the future.
