“And finally I would like, if I may, to dedicate this Oscar to the heroism and the courage of women, and to hope that it inspires the creation of more true screen heroines to represent them.” In 1996, Emma Thompson became the only person in history to win Oscars for both acting and writing. At the 65th Oscars, she won Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Margaret Schlegel in HOWARDS END. Three years later, she won Adapted Screenplay for SENSE AND SENSIBILITY.
Hunter Schafer has undergone gender-affirming bottom surgery. “I just had bottom surgery in December, which was amazing, and I love it so much,” Schafer told Elle magazine. “For a long time I’ve embraced the gender-expansive part of myself, and I really wanted to try to make that previous body work, because I thought there was something really cool and badass about it.” Schafer described the ability to evolve as the “magical thing about queerness... on an ideological level, it’s about possibility and expansion and growth, and being on that journey and finding yourself.” While she had always viewed her gender identity as more fluid, she has now landed somewhere “flatter,” adding: “I’m a woman. I’m a girl.”

I had the most wonderful birthday in upstate New York at @thesistersofcedarlakes with a small group of close family and friends. No phones allowed, but we had a bunch of disposable cameras lying around and these are some of the photos I got back. And sorry ran out of tags to tag people.
