In this first installment of #localwithlina, let’s explore @alphonsofashion (founded by @junwilliams) who’s making upcycling his own.

From crewnecks and waffle-knit long sleeves to puffers, cargo shorts, and even tote bags crafted by Alphonso himself, Alphonso Fashion is passionate about giving new life to pieces that might otherwise be overlooked or forgotten.

Back in college, I dedicated my senior project to sustainability in fashion and the dangers of fast fashion. The fashion industry has a significant environmental footprint and is one of the largest polluters in the world. That’s why brands like AF really resonate with me – they’re bringing more awareness to the impact of our clothing choices while taking a more intentional approach to how fashion is created and consumed.

Their message, “𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱,” speaks to that idea. Fashion doesn’t have to be centered around constantly producing and consuming what’s new or trending. 🎯 There’s value in working with what already exists – rethinking, reworking, and extending its life.
