I plated a serving of chicken fried steak in front of the Queen of Country, too awed and nervous to speak. Dolly kindly broke the ice by asking me in her signature drawl, “So honey, how long have you been gravy dumpin?”
She had such a way with words.
On set that day, Dolly made every crew member who crossed her path feel interesting and important. And she did it in 6 inch stilettos. What a talent. What a spirit. What a loss.
Rest in peace Dolly. Thank you for the many gifts you shared with the world.
