🔥🌲 Wildfires are becoming a growing threat to clean air and climate.
As emissions from industry and transport continue to decline in many regions, wildfires are accounting for an increasing relative share of air pollution episodes, releasing a complex mix of harmful pollutants and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
🌍 Understanding these impacts has never been more important.
That is why experts under the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution's Task Force on Hemispheric Transport of Air Pollution are joining forces to develop a major international assessment of how wildfire emissions affect air quality and climate.
🤝 Bringing together atmospheric scientists, fire experts and modelers from around the world, this collaborative effort will provide the scientific evidence needed to support effective air pollution and climate policies.
Want to learn more about the latest science and policy responses to emerging air pollution challenges?
🌍 Join the International Clean Air Dialogue 2026! 💙☁️
📍 Istanbul, Türkiye
📅 23-24 September 2026
Clean air is essential for healthy people, thriving ecosystems, and sustainable development. The International Clean Air Dialogue will bring together policymakers, experts, practitioners, and stakeholders from around the world to exchange knowledge, strengthen dialogue and mutual learning on clean air solutions.
The Dialogue will:
✅ Raise awareness of emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in air pollution policy
✅ Share experiences on policies, regulatory frameworks, and technical solutions, including their potential climate co-benefits
✅ Foster dialogue and mutual learning on air quality monitoring, management, and governance across sectors and regions
Together, we can advance cleaner air, healthier lives, and a more sustainable future.
