It is time for my annual crying-about-Anne-Rice video. It was such an honor to hear @christopher.rice.writer, @ericshawquinn, & the phenomenal @lbardugo speak about Anne’s work and her legacy this afternoon at Loyola (thanks to @the.gardendistrictbookshop). Leigh’s words particularly about the importance of creating - or continuing to write and make art and express ourselves authentically, especially in the age of AI, really hit home for me. Creativity can be really isolating and lonely, and many of us are already weird, lonely people. But if Anne had quit writing the vampire chronicles, so many of us would have had very different life trajectories. Anne’s work changed my life, and I’ll be grateful forever to her, and to the writers she inspired. Time to go home and re-read the Devil’s minion chapter of qotd for the thousandth time. And then write. And then never stop writing. 🥀❤️
