yesterday at 11:11 am we said goodbye to my mom. my best friend. my biggest supporter. at the beginning of the year she was diagnosed with stage four cancer. after being diagnosed and going through chemo, she broke her hip and femur in july. while trying to recover from that, she developed pneumonia. so much had happened in such a short time, her body just couldn’t keep up anymore. she fought like hell with everything she had. she was a warrior. she fought until her very last moments. and was her sassy self until the end too.

there are no words to express the pain, heartbreak, and body aching grief i feel in losing my mommy, my best friend, my partner in crime. this doesn’t feel real. i am so grateful that she was able to spend time knowing her first grandson, and i will make sure that he always remembers how much his nana just adored him. i find comfort knowing that she is reunited with my dad, the love of her life and her own mom who she lost so young.

everything i do now will be for you mommy. i know you’ll be watching over us and keeping an extra eye on Lincoln. i will sing his song to him every morning for you. i love you and i miss you my angel. tell me when i get there.
