Anxiety is something I’ve struggled with for a long time and I know a lot of people deal with things internally that nobody else would ever know about. Sometimes, just hearing someone else put an experience into words can make you feel a little less alone in your own.

We spend so much time thinking about how to make our bodies look better, move better, and become stronger. But I think taking care of our mental health deserves just as much attention.

That’s something I want to make more space for here. Fitness is the starting point, but I hope this community can be about more than that. A place where we can challenge ourselves, support each other and grow in ways that go beyond the physical.

That’s also a big part of why I’m building my app and this community. I want to make fitness more accessible and create something that helps people feel connected to something bigger than themselves.

I’m still figuring things out myself, but if sharing my experiences helps someone else feel a little less alone, then it’s worth it.

Some marriages last 43 years, but that doesn't always mean they were happy. Sometimes, the world sees a beautiful love story while one person quietly sacrifices their dreams. 💔

Everyone admired my parents' marriage. Four children, a beautiful home, Sunday dinners, and anniversary photographs. People called my mother lucky, but nobody ever asked what she truly wanted.

After her funeral, my aunt revealed a secret: my mother had wanted to leave in 1987.

She had found a small apartment, applied for a receptionist job, and planned how to support her four children. But my father made it clear that if she left, the children would stay with him.

With no savings, no lawyer, and nowhere to go, she stayed.

Years later, I discovered her little wooden box. Inside were photographs, birthday cards, and a bankbook. She had quietly saved $20 every month, building a balance of $1,460.

Tucked inside was a note:

“For a little trip someday. Somewhere with the ocean. Just me.”

After decades of caring for everyone, cooking thousands of meals, and remembering every birthday, all my mother wanted was a little time for herself.

Then my seventeen-year-old daughter asked my father a question nobody else had dared to ask:

“Grandpa, if Grandma had her own money, do you think she would have stayed?”

For the first time, he had nothing to say.

That silence changed how I understood my mother's life. Her polite smiles, the groceries she returned when his card failed, and the jokes about her questioning bills suddenly felt different.

People often praise marriages that last a lifetime, but longevity alone doesn't prove happiness. Sometimes two people stay together because they choose each other. Sometimes one stays because leaving feels impossible.

My mother deserved financial independence, the freedom to pursue her dreams, and the chance to see the ocean she had dreamed about for so long.

She deserved a life where her happiness mattered, too.
