But behind the social media jokes and outrageous football claims is a federal investigation involving dozens of women, millions in alleged investment promises, and approximately $1.3 million investigators say was collected. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Love, 35, and alleged accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, were arrested on August 24, 2026, in Boise, Idaho. Both initially faced federal complaints alleging wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Investigators allege the operation began in February 2022 and targeted women across Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho. Love reportedly connected with women through dating applications and social media, presenting himself as someone with significant wealth and professional success. His identities allegedly included an NFL player, a successful real estate investor, and a businessman with access to extraordinary financial opportunities. Federal authorities identified several names he used, including Jon Love, Avril Lyto Love, and Jordan Love. One of his most recognizable personas involved claiming to be a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, despite never having played for the franchise or in the NFL.
