COMPROMISE(D) is a 2-person legal drama, set in St. Louis in 1835. The stage play is inspired by the true story of John Berry Meachum, a free black man and target of a misdirected lawsuit. Meachum must decide whether to compromise his core beliefs to beat the case when his best line of defense becomes the argument of slavery.

JOHN BERRY MEACHUM – 40s-50s, A free black man, commanding, street-smart; a stubborn hothead, stuck in his ways; he is at least 15 years older than Drake. ROLE IS CAST

CHARLES DANIEL DRAKE – 20s to 30s, an inexperienced yet promising white lawyer; book-smart, charming and idealistic to a fault; at least 15 years younger than Meachum.
