How did the new stage play, COMPROMISE(D) come about? by @s.tyrone.writes
From Part III of COMPROMISE(D) When it was time to revise the ending of the stage play COMPROMISE(D), I took inspiration from my favorite writers, their soaring poetry, the punch of their dialogue, and the rawness of their prose. Read an excerpt from the latest draft of my new legal stage drama, COMPROMISE(D). Link in the comments by @s.tyrone.writes
Who was John Berry Meachum? by @s.tyrone.writes
An excerpt from PART II of the new stage play COMPROMISE(D) written by @s.tyrone.writes New Play Development: Legal Consultation The legal/courtroom drama is one of my favorite story genres. I knew there would be early 19th century legalese and I sought help to get it just right. A special shout-out to legal consultants Matt reece and Cooper Shattuck https://www.coopershattuck.com. Your feedback has been indispensable. by @s.tyrone.writes

SEEKING JOHN BERRY MEACHUM – 40s-50s, A free black man, commanding, street-smart; a stubborn hothead, stuck in his ways; he is at least 15 years older than Drake. ROLE IS CAST CHARLES DANIEL DRAKE – 20s to 30s, an inexperienced yet promising white lawyer; book-smart, charming and idealistic to a fault; at least 15 years younger than Meachum. by @s.tyrone.writes
Despite the ongoing threat of sale, enslaved black people had strong familial ties. In many slave narratives, this pattern is evident across gender, location, age, and time. The mere threat of a family member's sale is the final motivation to run away. When I went looking for inspiration for the Break into Part III of COMPROMISE(D), I hit Paydirt when I came across Bill T. Jones’ dance piece on Abraham Lincoln called Fondly Do We Hope…Fervently Do We Pray. by @s.tyrone.writes
