For the last week, this section of the road on the Menyama part of the highway, has been blocked and thus has affected supply of coffee. The conflict arose as a result of a domestic situation between a wife and a husband where the husband had been physically assaulting the wife and the wife’s people retaliated and assaulted the husband. The mans people ie his village than blocked the road and want compensation to be paid else the road will remain blocked. And so now the womans people are mobilizing resources to pay compensation to the people, it just so happens that i would be considered as part of the womans community and thus am expected to contribute to this although i am not from here but by association i have ties with the Marawaka community .
There is no police presence and so the enforcement of law by police takes days as they need to be called in, most times community leaders have the arduous task of mobilizing communities and facilitating for mediation and peace and this sometimes can take a while.
It is very complex dealing with rural communities, so many moving parts
