September 1 can feel like the biggest day of your life when you’re in high school. It isn’t.
I know it’s hard not to compare. You’ll see commitments, offers, phone calls and graphics all over your feed. Some girls will have their dream schools calling. Others will hear nothing.
Please don’t use that as a measurement of your potential.
I didn’t start pitching until I was 14. I wasn’t the girl who had the perfect recruiting timeline. My college career has taken me from Campbell to Indiana and now Cal, with an ACL tear, 3 surgeries, and a whole lot of unexpected turns mixed in.
If I could tell my high-school self anything, it would be this:
Stop trying to predict the ending from the chapter you’re currently in.
September 1 is exciting. But it’s one day.
Keep developing. Keep being a good teammate. Keep asking questions. Keep trusting that there are opportunities you don’t even know exist yet.
Your timeline does not have to look like everyone else’s to become something you’re incredibly proud of. 🥎💛

Keep this in mind…nobody outside your inmediate corcle even cares whether or not you played college softball. You also have to decide whether you want your entire college experience to be defined by softball or do you want to experience more and truly take that time to prepare for a 40-year career?

Thank you so much! My daughter started pitching at 13. She didn’t give up. At 15 she is now in an 18u showcase team. Keep working at it, everyone is in their own journey.
