Drake is facing a new copyright lawsuit over his chart-topping Iceman single “Janice STFU.” Composer Aviel Calev Hirschfield alleges that the song’s chorus is “literally identical” to a demo he created and sent to members of Drake’s production team in early 2026. The complaint was filed Friday by attorneys Gregory Korn and Jonathan Steinsapir and was first reported by Billboard. According to the lawsuit, Hirschfield wrote the demo in late 2025 and early 2026 over music provided by production duo FNZ, longtime Drake collaborators. Hirschfield says he specifically created the song for Drake and later sent the finished demo to FNZ and other producers, but never received a response. Hirschfield claims he did not hear Drake’s finished version until Iceman arrived, at which point he recognized what he alleges was the same melody and lyrics from his demo. FNZ are credited as co-writers on “Janice STFU,” which also interpolates Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers.” The songwriter says he later requested a co-writing credit and publishing share but was denied. His lawsuit names Drake, OVO Sound and Universal Music Group and seeks a portion of the song’s profits. Drake’s representative declined to comment to Billboard, while UMG had not responded at the time of publication. “Janice STFU” spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 20 weeks atop Hot Rap Songs. The allegations have not been proven in court. 🛑 #Drake #JaniceSTFU #Iceman #Copyright #MusicBusiness
