Carla Bruni turned a simple runway spin into one of those effortlessly memorable moments of the 1990s supermodel era.

During Isaac Mizrahi’s Spring/Summer 1995 show, fellow model Veronica Webb briefly stumbled while making her way down the runway.
Then came Carla.

Walking immediately afterwards, Bruni reached the runway and performed an effortlessly smooth 360-degree spin before continuing her walk as though nothing unusual had happened.

It was a tiny moment within an entire fashion show, yet it captured exactly what made the supermodel era so entertaining to watch. Models weren’t simply presenting clothes, personality, confidence and spontaneity could completely transform a few seconds on the runway.

And Carla Bruni made it look completely effortless.
