5 years ago today, Adele released ‘Easy On Me.'

Three songs were in contention to lead '30,' and Adele chose 'Easy On Me.' She wrote it with Greg Kurstin, her longtime collaborator, who produced it and plays bass, kick drum, and piano, with strings arranged and conducted by David Campbell. Columbia Records released it on October 15, 2021, her first new music in six years since '25.' The build-up included the number 30 projected onto landmarks around the world on October 1, a teaser on October 5, and a 40-second preview on October 9.

Xavier Dolan directed the video, shot in Quebec on September 15 and 16, 2021, and it opens in the same house used for the 'Hello' video, which he also directed. The song drew 24 million UK streams in its first week, topping the 16.9 million record that Ariana Grande's '7 rings' had set. It also broke Spotify's record for most streams in a day, and it moved to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in its second week as her fifth leader.

'Easy On Me' reached number one in 30 territories, spent eight non-consecutive weeks atop the UK chart, and became her longest-running chart-topper in both the UK and US. A duet version with Chris Stapleton reached country radio on November 19, 2021, making it the first song to scale pop, rock, R&B/hip-hop, and country airplay charts. It took Song of the Year at the 2022 Brit Awards, where '30' won Album of the Year, and later won the Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance.

America! America!! (1997)
America! America!! is a family drama directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar. The story revolves around three childhood friends from coastal Karnataka—Shashank, Surya, and Bhumika.

Shashank dreams of going to America and believes success and happiness lie abroad.
Surya values Indian culture, family bonds, and traditional values.
Bhumika is the friend who connects both of them despite their different views on life.

As Shashank moves to the United States, he faces the realities of life abroad, including loneliness, cultural differences, and personal struggles. The film contrasts the dream of settling in America with the importance of relationships, identity, and emotional fulfillment. Meanwhile, Surya's life in India follows a different path, highlighting the conflict between modern ambitions and traditional values.

The movie ultimately shows that true happiness is not determined by where one lives, but by the relationships, values, and choices one makes in life.

Main Cast
Ramesh Aravind
Akshay Anand
Hema Panchamukhi

Famous Song: Nooru Janmaku, which became one of the most loved songs in Kannada cinema.
