Sebastian Vettel was one of the funniest and most unpredictable characters to ever grace the Formula 1 grid, known for his humour, personality and ability to bring a completely different energy to the paddock.

But behind the jokes and personality was a driver desperately chasing another World Championship.

In 2017 and 2018, Vettel looked closer than ever to adding another title to his name. Ferrari had the pace, Vettel had the ability, but costly mistakes and crucial moments ultimately allowed the championships to slip away.

Those seasons seemed to change Vettel. The carefree, relentless driver became more reflective, more frustrated, and visibly affected by the pressure that came with fighting for a championship with Ferrari.

His career would eventually become about far more than championships. Vettel’s personality, humour and genuine character made him one of the most loved figures in the paddock.

But for many fans, 2017 and 2018 will always be the seasons that changed Sebastian Vettel forever.
