KWANI WHAT IS NOT HAPPENING MAJAMAA ?? Today, I met Queen Keke, who had attended the Obinna TV show. Shortly after leaving the show, her TikTok account, which had more than 3.1 million followers, was banned. She also went through a difficult period after breaking up with her boyfriend, whom they were planning to marry, and lost several advertising contracts with companies that were working with her because of the account ban. I will support her by engaging the Director of the Communications Authority to help facilitate an appeal for the restoration of her account. I will also request the Ministry of ICT, through the Creative Economy initiatives, to engage TikTok and advocate for more transparency so that creators are given clear reasons before their accounts are suspended. Additionally, there should be discussions on better ways of compensating creators based on views and engagement, similar to how other platforms support content creators. I want to caution people out there: not every podcast you are invited to attend has good intentions (I’m not blaming Obinna tv show for any of this). Some people may not always have your best interests at heart. Be careful, and if you must attend such platforms, seek God’s guidance and protection through prayer. Let us continue supporting and protecting our creatives because their talent, hard work, and platforms are their livelihoods.
