The presence of people changes from one photograph to another in this selection. Sometimes a figure appears small against the surrounding architecture; elsewhere, a moment of movement draws our attention to the person at the centre of the scene. Light, distance and the character of each setting contribute to these differences. Together, the photographs offer glimpses of places Burcu has visited and moments she has noticed along the way. “Photography is a way of discovering moments that often go unnoticed in the flow of everyday life for me. The light, movement, and human stories I encounter across different places and lives inspire me to take photographs.” How does the setting influence the way we perceive a moment? When @jane told me @drinksteamy was launching in a major retailer and they got a new office I HAD to paint a mural! 🩷🧡 It’s so fun watching your friends dreams come true!
When the 3 of us get together 😁
Have you met Nyambeni? Those who tuned into @sesamestreet’s special episode at our Nairobi Nursery will know her as @elmo’s adopted elephant — and now, we wanted to tell you a bit more this special orphan! – We rescued Nyambeni in 2022, when she was just a tiny baby. She was saved by a farmer, who discovered her stuck and abandoned in a ditch. – Nyambeni’s best friend is Mzinga, who was rescued just a few months before her. – The Keepers call Nyambeni a ‘kali mama’ — fiery but nurturing, she is a nanny like no other! – Nyambeni is one of the naughtiest members of our Nursery herd. She does what she wants, when she wants, and makes her own rules. These are some glimpses of Nyambeni growing up. Now, she’s a sturdy four-year-old — with so much still ahead of her! — Like Elmo, you can adopt Nyambeni and support her journey back to the wild!
