While on a cruise to the Bahamas, I packed my full kitโ€”tripod, lenses, and of course my Camerasโ€”knowing that traveling the open ocean at night offers an incredible chance for deep-sea thunderstorms. Just before dark, I watched this towering thundercloud bank keep growing and growing on the horizon. As we were cruising, the ship practically came to a standstill because they were serving dinner. Seizing the moment of perfectly flat, stable water, I locked my camera onto the tripod and began taking 20 second exposures. The cloud top looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movieโ€”completely interstellar. I was ready, set, and just waiting for that very first bolt of lightning to fire. When it did, I captured this absolute masterpiece. All the subsequent bolts that night were just alright, but that first strike was the ultimate payout. ๐Ÿ’ฒ ๐Ÿ’ต A huge thank you to my friend ๐‘บ๐’„๐’๐’•๐’• ๐‘ฉ๐’๐’™๐’˜๐’†๐’๐’, who took my original photo and added a little extra light into the scene. His subtle edit and tweak made the cloud top, the entire ocean storm, and even the surrounding stars pop beautifully! If you love the true grit of Mother Nature and dynamic storm tracking, please like, share, and follow ๐˜ฝ๐™ค๐™—๐™—๐™ฎ ๐™’๐™ช๐™ข๐™ข๐™š๐™ง ๐™‹๐™๐™ค๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™œ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฅ๐™๐™ฎ to help the page grow as we push toward 100k followers by the end of the year! ๐ŸŒŠโšก๏ธ #bobbywummerphotography #stormchasing #lightningphotography #longexposure_shots #nightskyphotography
Iโ€™m turning 60 in two months. And Iโ€™m not running out of time. If anything, I feel like Iโ€™m just getting started. Iโ€™ve stopped looking at aging as everything Iโ€™m losing and started appreciating everything Iโ€™ve gained. Confidence. Perspective. Freedom. And the permission to keep becoming. Because the woman I am today isnโ€™t the final version of me. And neither is the woman you are today. โค๏ธ Tell me, whatโ€™s one thing youโ€™ve gained with age that you wouldnโ€™t trade for anything? ๐Ÿ“ธ @permanentglimpse
