Today I read the news that Floor Jansen is leaving @nightwish , and it made me sad. Another chapter closes. Three singers, three eras, each with its own voice and spirit. Nightwish holds a very special place in my own story. I graduated from a conservatory as an opera singer and didn’t even listen to this kind of music back then. I never imagined how much symphonic metal would come to mean to me, or how deeply it would influence me as an artist. Then came Sleeping Sun. This video of my performance went viral, reaching 40 million views and introducing my voice to so many people around the world. It gave my career an incredible boost, and singing this song still feels special every time. Today felt like the right moment to share it again, with gratitude for music that has changed so much in my life. 🤍 Wishing Floor and Nightwish inspiration on their journeys ahead. The music and memories they’ve given us will always stay with us. #nightwish #sleepingsun #floorjansen #nataliasarsgard #nightwishfamily
Legal sports betting, recreational weed, and porn on every phone all arrived within the last twenty years, but the consolation vice most Americans are hooked on first, usually before they can read, is junk food. It works as an instruction manual for how every consolation vice gets built: deregulate the product, capture the agencies meant to police it, and then consecrate the damage as personal autonomy. Corporate interests handle the first two steps, and radlib rhetoric handles the last. First, the industry fights off any serious regulation of what goes into food, how it’s marketed to children, and what runs off the farms that grow it, so it can sell engineered addiction to people from the moment they can recognize a logo. From there the industry captures the state: federal dietary guidance gets shaped by its lobbying, federal money flows to the corn and soy that become syrup and feedlot meat, and the fast food chains and Walmarts that sell it pay so little that their full-time workers are among the largest groups of SNAP and Medicaid recipients in the country. Americans subsidize their own poisoning at every step, from the seed to the sludge they’re handed at the drive-through. This produces a predictable crisis: over half of what Americans eat is ultra-processed, about 40 percent of adults are obese, child obesity is at a record high, and type 2 diabetes in kids is projected to rise nearly 700 percent. Once the population has been sufficiently poisoned, the activists arrive to embrace the damage as identity. Actually, you can be healthy at any size. Actually, BMI is racist. Actually, a soda tax is an attack on communities of color. Actually, restricting what SNAP can buy is just stigmatizing the poor. The profiteers make the public sick, and the sickness gets rebranded as an identity in need of protection, but the protection only runs one way: against anyone who calls it unhealthy, and never against the companies that caused it. For the companies, it’s a marriage made in heaven: their dying, addicted customers are shielded from shame, and the positivity movement defending them gains new members every day the subsidized poison we eat does its work.
~ The Gazans Who Allied Themselves with Israel Todays post features no less than 20 images and videos showing Gazan Palestinians affiliated with Militias that have allied themselves with the Israeli Defence Forces. In quite a few of these pictures, the Militia members can be seen donning IDF uniforms, Israeli Agilite plate carriers as well as Israeli flag patches. Additionally, Images 1,3,4 and 5 show “Popular Forces” Militia Commander Ghassan Duhine armed with an Israeli supplied M4 pattern rifle fitted with a Meprolight RDS all while seemingly cosplaying as former IDF General Rafael “Raful” Eitan with the red beret. There are Currently *6* Israeli backed militias operating in the Gaza Strip. The 6 anti-H@m@s militias and networks reported to operate in Gaza with varying degrees of Israeli support are the Popular Forces, formerly led by Yasser Abu Shabab and subsequently by Ghassan Duhine based in Rafah; Hossam al-Astal’s Counter Terrorism Strike Force, operating around Khan Younis; Ashraf al-Mansi’s People’s Army, in northern Gaza; Rami Halas’s Shujaiya Popular Defense Forces, operating in eastern Gaza City; Shawqi Abu Nassira’s Popular Army, based around Deir al-Balah in central Gaza; and the Doghmosh clan’s armed network, active around Gaza City. IDF backed militias have increasingly operated as forward ground forces and local intelligence assets for the IDF in Gaza. Using local networks and intelligence about H@m@s personnel and movements, they have carried out raids, abductions and targeted assassinations of H@m@s police commanders and security officials, while routinely clashing with H@m@s affiliated forces. The IDF has also provided air support during militia engagements, including strikes that have helped the groups disengage when their operations were exposed. The arrangement allows Israel to put Palestinian fighters on the ground to penetrate H@m@s influenced areas, gather information, capture suspects and disrupt internal security networks, while reducing the risks to IDF troops. Image 6 even shows Militia members donning breathing apparatus for subterranean use inside H@m@s tunnel networks.
Marking 10 years since JNU student Najeeb Ahmed was made to disappear. The state could close the files but we will never stop asking the question - Where is Najeeb? #fyp #jnu #protest #muslim #india
