'Marginalia Book Club: Will You Bring Your Book to dblspce' is a place-specific publication that documents the marginalia collected during Xingyun’s residency at dblspce in Singapore. For four weeks, the old shop unit in Peninsula Shopping Centre transformed into a marginalia-curious communal library titled ‘Will You Bring Your Book’. With an invitation to bring any text-based material one wishes to read and annotate with others, visitors brought old textbooks, novels, art books, handmade zines, photocopied texts, manuals, comics, and fan fiction excerpts.
Spurred by the audacity to collapse the hierarchy of printed information and handwritten annotations, heaps of free time, and a scanner to use at liberty, the publication documents page margins as sites for collective reflection and spontaneous conversation-making.
Clothes Press dedicates this publication to the readers who joined Xingyun in reading together, and to dblspce, which housed the conversations that happened on and off the page during that fateful summer month.
