Two years later… we finally made it to Quilpie.

This little outback town has been on our list since the very beginning. We were actually meant to come through here during our first week on the road back in 2024, but a heap of rain and two very green travellers quickly changed those plans 😂

There was also a bit of history behind wanting to get here. Lochie grew up hearing stories of his dad and uncles coming out this way fishing, exploring and no doubt sinking a few cold ones at the time. So it was always somewhere we wanted to see for ourselves.

This time, the timing was right. We wanted to take a few days to slow down and just chill.

A few days camped along the Bulloo River, fossicking for opals, making our way up Baldy Top lookout with amazing views, celebrating Mel’s birthday and finishing it off with a pub feed and drinks at the Brick Hotel.
