1. Hydration. Seems simple, get 64 oz of water a day (or more) but let me tell you, when you’re on a glp1, there’s limited space in your stomach and if like me you forget to drink, you find yourself deciding between eating or drinking. I often chug water in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning in order to hit my minimum goal. 😅
2. Prioritize Protein. Hitting my protein goals of 120g a day (my personal goal, your goal and body may differ) is HARD when my stomach feels full, I have food apathy, or am experiencing nausea. 😩 But I eat my protein first for every meal, plan high protein snacks, and supplement when I need to with shakes and bars.
3. Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. MINIMUM. 😴 WAY easier said than done. 😑 My brain struggles to turn off, plus adding in chronic pain or other issues, and I’m lucky to get 5-6. BUT I’m working on getting to bed earlier and prioritizing a better sleep schedule and hygiene.
4. Movement. Any kind. Anything you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, and you don’t have to be an expert or workout till you are exhausted. Moving your body in some moderate way at least 30 mins a day most days is enough. 💪🏻 Sometimes I can only manage 10 minute intervals of movement at a time. Some days I can do an hour. As long as I am getting something in on a consistent basis, I know I’m on the right track.
5. Do something for yourself. 🥰 It can be joining an exercise class, learning a new hobby, planning a date night for yourself, having a night in or reading a new book. Something that’s just for you and no one else. Self care can often get pushed to the way side when we are focused on losing weight, but that only leads to burn out and relapse. 💗 So do something that brings you joy.
I could list a dozen more but these are a good start.
I’m 20+ pounds down from my highest regain and still going and I couldn’t be happier with my progress both on the scale and in my life since I’ve been focusing on these 5 things.
