Bike lanes save lives while Toronto police services continue to waste time and energy and resources facilitating the destruction of life saving infrastructure.

Full story ⬇️

I was hired to film a baby shower and capture the day’s special moments. From the time I arrived at the venue, there was noticeable tension between the two families. They barely interacted with each other, and eventually, the child’s mother’s sister began making remarks toward the other family.

The situation escalated when members of the child’s mother’s family became hostile and violent. They made threats and racist comments toward the other family and toward me. As things got worse, I started recording what was happening.

When I tried to retrieve my equipment and leave, they refused to let me get my belongings. They threatened and assaulted me and my friends, threw objects—including rocks—at us, and prevented us from leaving. I had come there to do a job, but I ended up documenting the confrontation while trying to get my equipment back and get out safely.

During the incident, the mother took my phone to stop me from recording. When I eventually got it back, part of the case and one of its buttons were missing.

By the time I recovered my equipment, some of my lights were missing, and some of my property had been damaged. What began as a paid baby shower filming job turned into a frightening situation involving threats, racist remarks, violence, and missing or damaged belongings.

At the end of the day, I’m just a cameraman who was hired to capture a baby shower.I hope this reaches the right people and shows everyone how this family treated me and my friends. Nobody should have to face threats, racist remarks, or violence while simply doing their job.

I’m someone who worries a lot. In fact, I often spend my nights unable to sleep because I’m thinking about my worries, my struggles, and the future.

But life isn’t forever, is it? We make plans and hope for a better future, but the truth is, this very moment could be our last. There are so many wars, problems, and natural disasters happening around the world, and every time I hear about them, it breaks my heart.

Tonight, I performed thinking that this moment could be my last. That made the time we shared feel even more precious. Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful evening.

I’ll treasure every moment I spend with each and every one of you. I’ll never take those moments for granted, and I’ll keep thanking you by sharing good energy, love, and music with you every day.

Thank you for loving me today, too. I love you all. 049 ❤️🇩🇪
