Kriti Sanon has spoken out on patriarchy and society’s approach to conversations around women’s safety, questioning the tendency to frame gender issues as a simple ‘men vs women’ debate.

Her posts came after the reported assault of two Class 10 students in Bihar’s Jamui, which sparked widespread outrage.

Kriti questioned why women are constantly told how to protect themselves from harassment and violence, while greater emphasis should be placed on teaching boys and men about consent, respect and accountability.

She also liked a post highlighting what it described as a disparity in public outrage over crimes against women compared with controversies surrounding women’s appearance in advertisements.
