The purpose of Delta Week is to tackle pertinent issues and enlighten the African American community about matters facing our people. This year’s Delta Week entitled “R.E.C.L.A.I.M: Restoring Empowerment to Cultivate Liberation through Awareness, Impact and Mobilization,” focused on informing and mobilizing our community to make a tangible impact. Our impact this week extended far beyond our campus, participating in meaningful calls to action each day.
Sorors and participants created community investment & local Black-owned business guides for two District of Columbia public libraries.
Sorors submitted a policy brief to the DCPS Arts Division featuring 75 participant advocacy statements.
Sorors and participants authored eight artifact briefs to be displayed around Howard University’s campus.
Over 125 participants became certified as Grassroots Health Volunteers.
Sorors and participants wrote 96 take-action letters to the Council of the District of Columbia, advocating for a more just criminal legal system.
Sorors and participants created a “Hidden Figures” community mural, assembled 98 gift packages, and donated over three bins of art supplies to FAPAC.
Thank you to all who attended and supported this year’s Delta Week!
