Liz Buxbuam & Wes Bennett appreciation post! 💛🩵📚🎬

If you know me then you know @lynnpainterbooks books are my favorites & just how special BTTM/NLTM are to me. I read Better Than The Movies when it came out and I was in the same stage of life Liz was in, trying to figure out what career I wanted, college, and all of life changing. I had never read about a character I related more to. A rom com movie lover, book nerdy, hopeless romantic, chronically makes playlist for every situation, and who dresses the way she likes even if it’s funky and not the norm. All the things that made Liz, I felt seen by but even in the way she has a loud laugh, she hates change, and gets in her head on what others might think. Her “flaws” made me feel not alone. And I was just obsessed with Wes (I mean who wouldn’t) and how much he understood & saw Liz!

So when Nothing Like The Movies was published & I read it, I was ironically again in the same stage of life as Liz. In college, trying to learn the ropes, questioning if I made the right choices, and trying to figure out who I was So once again this fictional character made feel “okay” like I wasn’t alone and exactly who I was and wanted to be.

I love these books so much & hold these characters so close to my heart, that right before I got married this summer, my fiancé (now husband lol) read Better Than The Movies. He knew how much Liz & Wes meant to me how much I related with Liz. He was invested in their banter & fake dating! He said after reading he got why I saw myself in Liz. So this is my sappy declaration of love post for the books & characters that feel like my friends! And I promise you will always hear me talk about BTTM & NLTM, Lynn Painter, and her books! ✨📚💛🩵🪩🎬
