My biggest problems now is those dialogue tags. Tricky!

I could relate to each of them. I wish I had seen this before spending a year learning it through multiple revisions and re-reads.

Hard disagree on not editing as you write. There’s plenty of people out there who it doesn’t slow down, for me personally, it helps with motivation. Whenever I feel a little bit stuck, going back and editing what I’ve already written helps unblock me. It also helps me remember what I’ve already written so I stay on track. And just makes me happy.

Advice like that BLOCKED my writing success for years. Editing as I write was KEY to finishing my first novel! There are no hard rules, and every writer should find their own process. RUN from everyone who believes they’ve found any universal truths!

Having just read your tips, I feel really happy that I am no longer a beginner writer as I do not do those things anymore but I definitely did when I started ❤️

Nice tips. Regarding the synonyms: as someone who doesn't write in her native language I love to use wordhippo, because it doesn't just give you synonyms but also sorts them by meaning and word group (verb/noun/...)! Extremely helpful
