![Utusan Khusus Presiden Bidang Iklim dan Energi, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, mengungkapkan rencana pemanfaatan sekitar 12,7 juta hektare hutan terdegradasi di Indonesia untuk mendukung pengembangan bahan bakar nabati atau biofuel, termasuk biodiesel B50 hingga B100. Dilansir CNN Indonesia, Hashim menyampaikan gagasan tersebut dalam Investor Daily Summit 2026 di Jakarta, Rabu (7/10/2026). Menurutnya, kawasan yang akan dimanfaatkan merupakan hutan yang telah mengalami kerusakan akibat penebangan dan kehilangan tutupan pohon, bukan hutan primer yang masih terjaga. "B50-B100 itu nanti, syukur-syukurnya itu nanti dari hutan yang rusak, bukan hutan primer," ujar Hashim. Ia menilai pemanfaatan lahan terdegradasi dapat menjadi salah satu langkah untuk memperkuat kemandirian energi nasional melalui pengembangan biofuel.
Di sisi lain, Hashim menegaskan bahwa upaya mencapai swasembada energi harus tetap berjalan seiring dengan perlindungan lingkungan, termasuk kelestarian hutan dan perairan Indonesia. Ia juga menyoroti kondisi 57 taman nasional dengan luas keseluruhan sekitar 23 juta hektare yang sebagian kawasannya mengalami kerusakan akibat aktivitas perkebunan sawit dan pertambangan ilegal. Hashim menyebut sekitar 5 juta hektare lahan perkebunan sawit ilegal telah dikuasai negara. Pemerintah, menurutnya, tengah menyiapkan langkah pemulihan kawasan yang rusak, termasuk mencari dukungan pendanaan dari luar negeri. Meski demikian, pemanfaatan 12,7 juta hektare hutan terdegradasi untuk mendukung produksi biofuel masih berupa arah pengembangan yang disampaikan Hashim, bukan berarti seluruh lahan tersebut telah ditetapkan sebagai kawasan produksi biodiesel.
