The end finally came for my dear Maisie. She was 19 going on 20. Last Friday I knew it was time. Last week she was not happy any more. I could not keep her comfortable. She did not care about eating. She did eat a McDonalds hamburger patty her last morning. I had been spoon feeding her for years. First to keep her from eating too much and then to make sure she was eating enough. I had been getting water in her mouth for a year with a large syringe. She had dementia so wouldn’t think to drink. Still we had many good days till I knew it was time. My only regret is that I did not get to have her those first eleven years of her life. But feel very lucky I got the rest. Oh how I will always love her. 💗
