I served 10 years in prison.

And I lost so much.

My dignity.
My home.
My car.
People I loved.
A marriage.
Time I can never get back.

You name it, I probably lost it.

But somewhere in the middle of losing everything, I gained something I didn’t have before:

My voice.

I learned how to advocate.
I learned how to organize.
I learned how to fight; not just for myself, but for people who have been told that their past should determine their future.

And when I came home, I decided to use that voice.

I didn’t just come home.
I came home to change things.

And I’m just getting started.
