Eleven people, six of them juveniles, were struck Saturday night in a shooting near FAMU’s Bragg Memorial Stadium during the university’s homecoming weekend in Tallahassee, Florida. Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell confirmed the number of people shot during a press conference late Saturday night. The Associated Press reported that at least 12 people were injured in total, including six children, and that no arrests have been made. The shooting happened in the area of Perry Street and Manatee Street, near the stadium, just hours after FAMU hosted Arkansas-Pine Bluff in its annual homecoming football game. Homecoming at FAMU is one of the biggest weekends of the year for the HBCU, drawing students, alumni and families from across the country to Tallahassee. As police responded, FAMU sent an emergency alert telling anyone near Bragg Stadium and Perry Street to avoid the area or shelter in place. The university later said its campus remains safe, expressed support for the victims and everyone affected, and asked anyone with information to contact the Tallahassee Police Department.
