Another wonderful image by @thierry_bal of our current exhibition ‘Faux Pas’ by @julianwildsculpture and @alisonhandartist at 5 Howick Place, SW1P 1WG.

Wild’s and Hand’s artworks connect through form, colour and theme: piles of materials stack up in heaps, dialogues appear between surface, object and illusion.

In Wild’s sculptures, hard metal forms are squashed, bent and pressed by found objects, such as girders, in slapstick events. These playful happenings are detached from reality with their pop colours and polished surfaces. The violence of action is hidden within.

Hand’s paintings contain multiple vignettes and painterly tropes. Broad, seemingly abstract strokes turn into hazard tape and neon, whilst piles of tyres and barbed wire meld into romantic vistas. There is a dialogue between escapism and presence, and between painting histories.

Opening hours:
Monday-Friday 10am-6pm

The exhibition is on until the 10th of December.
