“Prosek’s Remnant, a 2026 painting of a shadow on a red barn, is about as enigmatic and intense a work of art as I’ve seen in a long time. Red barns with shingle roofs set against a sky mixed with blue and puffy clouds are a New England staple, but they’re a Midwest one as well. In Remnant, a tree’s shadow stretches over the width and length of the barn — weightless, hegemonic, and unintentional art.
