I’ve been working on this one.
The people represent departed folks so I wanted them to fade into the background.
Then I made the shadows of real objects darker.
May have to make it more obvious, but I think it works better. #shadows #tableandchairs #departed #shadowpeople #color #oiloncanvas #artist #connecticutartist #artcollector #curator #visualstoryteller #storyteller taken in Susan Prentice Studio & Gallery by @sprentice

“Ins and outs”, 30x30, oil on linen.
This was a very complicated work.
A total experiment.
The color was different for me.
The technique was new for me.

Decided this Rooster portrait needed a re-design.
Needs more work but it’s filling the space a little better.

For days I’ve been hearing a frog jump into this makeshift pond. He was so camouflaged, I could barely see him.

There are three ancient Norway Maples on my property.
This one needed some surgery today.
It breaks my heart to see these old guys decline.
But they will stay in my heart as the wood will help to keep me warm in the colder months.

Put this pastoral sheep painting in a frame today.
Love the way the frame enhances the golden details in the sheep. #pastoral #sheep #oilonpanel #artist #details taken in Susan Prentice Studio & Gallery by @sprentice

There’s an unspoken challenge amongst hardy New Englanders;
How long can you go before you turn on the heat or fire up the Woodstove?
I gave in today as a Nor’easter rambles across the Northeastern coast of New England.
The heat from a woodstove is divine.

Didn’t know what this was all about when I painted it.
Now the meaning is becoming clearer.

The door knocker on my art studio door is a garden trowel. But above it, is a tiny message to all who enter the studio!
